Protecting your brand globally?

One filing, 130+ countries covered.

India is a member of the Madrid System administered by WIPO. An Indian trademark applicant or registrant can file an international application (Form MM2) through IP India, designating any member countries where protection is sought. WIPO examines the application for formalities and transmits it to each designated country's trademark office for national examination. SS Marks prepares and files the MM2 application and manages responses from each designated country.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Madrid Protocol?

The Madrid Protocol is an international treaty administered by WIPO that allows trademark holders to seek protection in multiple member countries through a single application — rather than filing separately in each country.

Does international registration give me a registered trademark in each country?

The international registration is examined by each designated country's trademark office under its national laws. Protection in a particular country is only confirmed once that country grants protection. If a country raises an objection, it must be responded to separately.

Can I add countries after the initial filing?
